Broadmarsh and Disaster Land

The Broadmarsh redevelopment has been going on for 15 years and when redevelopment actually started it was cancelled not even a year later. The bus station and car park is the only thing that has actually happened. As well as the broadmarsh shopping centre being abandoned, WHSmith and boots will be closing down and River Island has already gone, although all these shops already exist in nottingham at the Victoria Centre in the north east of the city so its only really affecting the south of the city which I like to call "Disaster Land".

What is Broadmarsh Centre

The broadmarsh shopping centre is a 1970's shopping centre in the south of the city. It is a huge windowless building and in recent years up until its permanent closure there were almost no shops. The broadmarsh connects the listergate to collin street.

What will happen to the Broadmarsh Centre

Nothing.

Or if a mirical happens, it will take 10 years for them to knock down the derelict shopping centre and turn it into some grass or something, and as usual I bet they will find some way to build some student accomodation on the site. Whatever it is it will most likely be a boring, characterless, depressing, waste of space and time development that will not be something to be exited about, although it would be very hard or impossible to make something worse than the island quarter developtment.

And just to show how stupid the 10 year wait is, the previous car park and bus station was destroyed and rebuilt and is almost finished just 2 years after they started, and the new car park and bus station contains more shops and a library to replace the old library on angel row.
